For WE’s birthday bash, I decided to make him chocolate cupcakes from scratch. I used a recipe that he had seen on America’s Test Kitchen but hadn’t tried yet.

(Even though I did actually cook these, WE should still get the credit..since it was his recipe AND the chocolate shavings on top were the perfect touch and, of course, HIS idea not mine.)
Unbeknown to me and independent of my decision to surprise him with cupcakes, WE was reminiscing this week about when he was in grade school and the lunch lady used to make cupcakes for the kids on their birthday. Well, since WE has a summer birthday – he, of course, never got a lunch-lady-cupcake and hasn’t quite gotten over that childhood wound yet. So I hope that these cupcakes 22 years after the fact can in some small way make up for all the sorrow and hurt he felt as a first-grader.
This brings me to an idea that I’ve been mulling over lately…

The Belmont Stakes is the final and most demanding leg of the Triple Crown in horse racing. The mile-and-a-half-long track has a world record that stands at 2:24. Apparently Rachel Alexandra’s owners don’t think that it is in her best interest to run – saying that she’s taking a ‘well earned vacation.’ (I’m guessing that translates into the reason reason of – she outdid herself in the Preakness and hasn’t had time to recover yet. The last thing they want is for her to end up collapsing like Eight Belles did last year.)
So I guess that means just like the jockey (Calvin Borel), I’m saddlin back up with Bird this time. Perhaps me and the PeeWee Herman look-a-like will get lucky again and win with Mine that Bird.

Here’s an idea:

I completely agree with the author that:
1) GM does not need more money and/or time! And certainly not from the government.
2) The republican party has no clue what it stands for
And to the Romney proposal…
I say “What the heck, why not?!?”
Since the government didn’t give in and didn’t stop trying to resuscitate a dead horse with MY money, then at least send in someone to allow Obama and Henderson the political buffer so that they can do whatever is necessary and forget all the political crap.
