It would be bad strategy for anyone to "step up" right now because they would automatically become the target of the overwhelming liberal media blasting. I believe several potential leaders are working hard in the background to rally the forces. It will be interesting to see who emerges as the most successful. Mitt Romney is certainly one of them as is Newt Gingrich.

I agree that Mitt Romney would be an excellent choice and he might be just about the only person who can do it.

I totally disagree with the comment about the Republican party. I think that many, if not most, strongly believe in less government, strong defense, etc. However, there are a few in the party who haven't got a clue. Fortunately, one of those recently left (Arlen Specter). Now we just need to get rid of a few more. Basic conservatism is not dead. It's just been blasted by the more vocal extremely liberal media and then derailed by the John McCain's, the Arlen Specter's and the Olympia Snow's in the party. Not to worry, though, the Democrats are already totally shooting themselves in the foot. Many people who voted for "change" are already regretting it. The "change" is already proving to be disastrous and the true extent of the disaster is only just beginning to be apparent. By the next election it will be much more apparent.

Well done. I totally agree. Would be a win-win-win. Win for Obama (he gets the credit for involving Romney), Win for Romney (shows he still got it, and our Government should be the next wasteful mega-corporation he gets his hands on), and Win for the people of GM who, while most might not keep their job, at least SOME of them would.
