Ruffled Feathers
So on Friday after work I was on my way over to WE’s. As I was minding my own business and just motorin’ along – I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Seconds later, I heard it.
SPLAT!
Out of nowhere a fairly large bird came flying across the road and flew right into my drivers side window! Talk about sickening. Bird blood splattered all over my window and even on my side mirror. The poor little guy left a skid mark across my paint and he even left a few feathers stuck in the crevas of the window pane.
I felt so frightened and then helpless. Why in the world did he not see me? Why was he flying so low to the ground anyway? Was he already injured? Was he playing chicken with his friends? Did he die on impact? What was I supposed to do? I couldn’t just stop in the middle of the busy road.
So I just kept driving… a hit and run no less!
Hmmm…so I was thinking maybe in memorial I’ll get an Otis Jr. for my birthday. (WE still has Otis’ old birdcage in the guest room even)
I just plain owe it to the bird family, right?!?

MURDERER! The flocks of creepy birds will now come attack you! Prepare yourself.
Definitely scary! I wouldn’t have known what to do either. Sad for the bird.
Dumb birds… we hit 2 birds in Australia. One got stuck in the front fender and actually broke part of it. Alex had to pry the bird out. Luckily we got insurance on the rental car.
I love that you were able to find some humor in the midst of this tragedy.
I’d assume he was probably already injured if he was flying that low. Then again, we had a few birds this summer that would sit on our fence and take turns running into our windows, it was the craziest thing, it was like they were drunk. So maybe he was drunk flying, definitely not your fault. He should have known better than to fly while under the influence.
Watch out for Alfred Hitchcock and the birds…I think you should get an Otis jr.
