Stinky Feet
Well, last night for the first night ever in our 11 months of matrimony…
W.E. slept ON THE COUCH!
Yep, you heard right and I know what you are all thinking. Yahwsers – this is gonna be juicy. What in the world could he have done to deserve that?!
Truth is, the poor guy ran for his life after hours (no joke!) of me flailing in the sheets and screaming bloody murder (i.e. violently coughing and hacking) for what surely seemed like eternity.
I’m glad that he at least got a few zzzzs especially since he had EARLY church meetings this morning. And what a gentleman W.E. was to let me keep the King bed while he rolled up his long legs on the couch
This week, in fact, W.E. has (quite honorably) put up with a lot of whining and fuss and oh yeah some REALLY bad hair days (believe me! one day I looked in the mirror late in the afternoon for the first time and noticed that my hair looked like a ahhemmm bum crack – you know parted right down the middle and the straight stringy hair on the sides grossly matted to my pale face).
I missed 3 days of work (4 if you count jury duty on Tues) and boy oh boy did I learn how much I really miss work. Being sick is the pits. I felt consolation in a couple things: 1) my mom seems to have it 10X worse than me (thanks, mom for the reminder that there’s always someone out there who’s got it worse than you) and 2) WE hasn’t seemed to get the bug so far (knock on wood!).
I got so stir crazy from being cooped up all day and watching so much mindless movies/TV that I practically begged W.E. to do the Stray Cat Strut (hand motions and all) just for some REAL entertainment. Ha, he didn’t concede saying that I was starting to get sick in the head too
Well, at least things are looking up and now I just have the cough lingering around. Someone told me if you put Vicks Vapor Rub on your feet and cover with socks, it will make your night time cough go away. I’m skeptical but at this point willing to try almost anything.
I guess the worst thing that could happen is wet, stinky feet and beside – W.E. will probably be on the couch anyway

It’s always funny when you use “WE” and you mean Sam instead we (as in both of you)–
Pretty much the only thing I didn’t have this week was “THE COUGH”! And I have changed the sheets twice just because I felt like Ron was sleeping in a germy bed. I did spend most of last night in the chair and listened to him snoring in the bed. Keep in mind things have to get better! I’m not going to be sick for another week!!! Neither are you. But it is funny that we were both sick at the same time. or maybe not so funny
“We slept on the couch” LOL Must have been crowded for two people
PS- here is a tip on germ sharing that you might not think of- don’t even share TOWELS with Sam. (Some of the other things are more obvious like dishes and cups)
Alex has been sleeping on the couch lately too. We got rid of our nasty old king-sized bed and sleeping on a full-sized bed just isn’t working. I don’t mind being curled up, but Alex likes to sprawl out and it’s just not big enough for that. So he’s resorted to the couch several times if he doesn’t just give up and go in to work at 3:00am… gotta get a bigger bed soon.
By the way, I think GG may have sent that Vicks feet tip at some point – let me know if it works because I’ve never tried it either. At least try propping your head up with another pillow though so the drainage doesn’t just sit there in your throat.
Oh it’s just the beginning. Any hint of cough or sickness and I’m on the couch – it’s actually quite comfy : ) Hope you feel better soon!!!
Ha! If I used A2′s towel, she’d beat me up and then go get a new one.
sad day! hope you feel better Aud and that WE gets a good night’s sleep on the bed soon.
The no-sharing-towels tip came from a good friend in our ward that actually had the H1N1 flu. That was a suggestion from his doctor to help NOT spread the flu. He was worried about his wife getting sick. While Ron and I have had always had seperate bath towels- we often shared the same hand towel- now he has his own hand towel too. Mom thinks I wash the kitchen towels too much- but same concept. Actually, I mostly use the paper towels when I wash my hands. Loved the comment from Sam though!
Well, I’m sad to say that the Vicks Vapor Rub on the feet didn’t really work.
Although my coughing fit last night wasn’t as bad as the night before I still coughed pretty bad most of the night and I don’t think that I’d attribute the slight change to the Rub but rather just the passing of time and hopefully the passing of the cough…
I do admit that since I wore socks (I never do this normally) my feet stayed warm all night
Sad Aud. I hope you feel better soon! There’s nothing that detracts from life like being sick for days…or weeks…or months. Ugh!
Hey Aud! I feel your pain, and I think Micah feels Sam’s pain too. I’ve got the crud now too since about Friday night. It has felt like strep. Not alot of drainage, and not up into my sinuses. But my throat is so bad, it hurts to even swallow water. And I woke up about every 30 minutes coughing and hacking and trying to get my throat to stop burning and itching with throat spray. Micah said I moaned all night! Come to find out, after going in to the doctor today, the strep test was negative, but she is treating it as a really bad bacterial infection. She said my throat was one of the worst she’s ever seen. So I get to eat popsicles all day, probably to reduce swelling and inflammation. Isn’t it all just so fun?!?! And I had to wear one of those silly looking masks that gets everyone to stare at you. Fun stuff. Hopefully the meds and popsicles will help quickly, I can’t afford to miss too much work.
ah…the couch.
I sleep there all the time since I can’t find a comfortable position anyways. Unfortunately my cute husband has a sleep walking issue, so I sleep with a little bit of paranoia that he’s gonna come get me in the night (which he has).
Remember when you slept walked and got all geared up for racquetball?
Hahahaha, yes I was ready to play some ball
Why didn’t WE just sleep on the guest bed? Wouldn’t that be more comfy?
yeah, you’d think – right.
beats me
